Some jobs come into your life as something temporary. A “meanwhile.” That’s how Jairo Prieto’s story began 27 years ago, when he first started working in a call center with no experience and without imagining that this place would completely transform his life. It all began with an opportunity. A recommended resume, an interview, and the desire to get ahead. Like many young people, Jairo saw that job as a temporary step, but little by little he discovered something bigger: a purpose to improve lives.
Between late nights, studying, sacrifices, and family responsibilities,
she began to build not only a career, but also a home. Over time,
she went from answering calls to becoming an operations manager, but she never
forgot what it feels like to be “behind a headset.”
“In this company, there are no bosses, only leaders,” says Jairo.
For him, leading doesn’t mean giving orders, but rather supporting, listening to, and understanding people. Knowing how someone is doing, asking about their family, or recognizing good work can change lives. In fact, one of his most memorable experiences happened just two weeks after starting work, when he received an unexpected commendation for a call he answered. That moment, he says, made him realize he wanted to grow in this industry. His story is also marked by gratitude. Gratitude toward a company that, he says, allowed him to grow personally and professionally, provide for his family, and see his children become professionals.
But beyond titles or achievements, Jairo highlights something essential: humanity.
In a work environment where people are often seen as mere numbers, he found a culture based on care, approachable leadership, and the purpose of improving lives. Even during difficult times like the pandemic, he found in spirituality and the unity of the company a reason to keep going.
“Don’t be afraid. Don’t be afraid to go out into the world, to make mistakes, and to fight for your dreams.” Because his story proves that dreams do come true. But they come true through hard work, sacrifice, and doing even the most ordinary things… with extraordinary love.
