Tapitas Challenge Saves a Life

For two months, EcOS, our environmental mascot, invited us to carry out a special mission: to recycle plastic bottle caps with the dual purpose of protecting the environment and saving human lives. This initiative awakened the spirit of solidarity among our collaborators and showed us that, when we unite for a common cause, we can achieve a significant impact on the world around us.

In Colombia, more than one million tons of plastic are generated every year, but unfortunately, less than 30% is recycled. Plastic caps, although small in size, are a major threat to our oceans, soils, and sources of drinking water. In addition, their production contributes to the increase in greenhouse gases, accelerating climate change. However, what often goes unnoticed is the power that these small pieces have to make a big difference, both in the health of the planet and in people’s lives.

At first glance, it may seem surprising that the collection of plastic caps is linked to saving lives, but in reality, each recycled cap not only helps reduce pollution, but also represents a glimmer of hope to improve the lives of the children of the María José Foundation, who suffer from a chronic disease such as cancer.

The collective effort resulted in an impressive achievement: 1,819 kilos of bottle caps collected, almost two tons. The 29 teams of the OS Family overcame all challenges and, regardless of their geographic location, worked with determination to fulfill the commitment to improve lives and care for our planet.

This initiative reaffirmed the power of solidarity and the impact we can have when we unite for a cause. Get to know the voices of the protagonists, who urge us to continue with these beautiful causes:

The Tapitas Saves a Life Challenge has shown us that, with determination and joint effort, we can make a real difference in the world in support of our purpose of Improving Lives, Our Commitment.
